At IBC (booth 8.B40), Slomo.tv, a leading international producer of cost-effective high performance video record and instant replay systems, will debut the world’s smallest video replay server. Designated Ripley, this unique video replay server is configured within the form factor of the replay controller.

"Ripley is another significant step that Slomo.tv is taking in making our solutions affordable and desirable for the broadest range of sports production," said Michael Gilman, CEO of Slomo.tv. "This controller/server combo builds on the success of our Simple R and Jr. products: but in this case, our design engineers have succeeded in creating a fully functional server inside a 4.5 kg controller. This opens up a whole new world of opportunities for anybody who wants a broadcast quality slow motion instant replay server for sports and video-judging applications."

Ripley is configured with eight separate bi-directional HD/SD SDI-interfaces supporting HD/SD channels in a 442 configuration (4 record, 4 search and 2 replay channels). Despite its ultra-compact form factor, Ripley supports 2x-3x SuperMotion cameras.

Also, Ripley can be used as a four-camera sports video judging unit. It has two graphics ports for the main interface and multi-viewer monitors. If the operator has only one monitor available, he can easily switch between these modes using the unit’s MultiSkin function. For easy integration within wider workflows, Ripley comes fitted with LTC input, an RS232/422 port as well as two In and two Out GPO interfaces.

Another unique feature of Ripley is four SDHC memory card slots for video import and export. Four-channel recording is achieved with H.264 or AVC-Intra 50Mbit codecs. Within the server, the recorded material can be exported for NLE editing by most popular codecs including ProRes, AVID DNxHD, XDCAM 50, DVCProHD, AVC-Intro.

Ripley replay server

As standard, the server has a 1GbE networking interface for file exchange between other systems. This combo server also includes two free options – a transfer (networking) option for exchanging clips and playlists within Slomo.tv servers and a telestrator (Game Analyzer), which allows drawing on the video being played.

Slomo.tv reports that Ripley has been developed as a replay server for fly-away installations. Its robustness alongside with distinctive intuitive user interface makes it an ideal redundancy unit.

Ripley will make its European debut at IBC (booth # 8.B40).

At IBC2018 (booth 8.B40 ), Slomo.tv, a leading international producer of cost-effective, high performance video record and replay systems, will provide a European debut for its cost effective, compact and powerful Arrow II server. First introduced in the US at NAB 2018, Slomo.tv is offering a special price for the basic 442 model, providing four record, four search and two playback with transition channels of Euro 20,000.

Arrow II

"The Arrow line is our entry-level solution, setting a new standard in cost-effective production and replay servers," commented Michael Gilman, CEO of Slomo.tv. "The servers are based on our successful server platform, with eight bi-directional 3G/HD/SD SDI video ports, which makes it possible to remotely upgrade the basic 442 model to a 662 configuration. With built-in storage of up to 533 hours of HD video as a standard feature Arrow II offers a uniquely cost-effective option in the professional broadcast market."

videoReferee®-FC

A complete integrated video assistant referee (VAR) system is to be introduced at the IBC show by Slomo.tv, a supplier of server-based video recording and replay systems. The system has been used for years across sports such as ice hockey, basketball and handball but has now been adapted to accommodate soccer’s recently introduced FIFA-obligatory requirements.

Designated videoReferee®-FC, the compact 4U video server records up to 24 3G/HD channels and has four graphics outputs. It has a separate multiviewer for all channels capable of displaying live and delayed video.

The system provides two fully functional and independent workplaces working with live, delayed-for-two-seconds or recorded video. Using the system, sports referees can analyse in-play action frame by frame, simultaneously viewing the action from different camera angles.

At IBC (stand 8.B40), Slomo.tv, a leading international producer of cost-effective, high performance SSD-based video record and replay systems, has ripped up the server rule book. The company will launch a new aggressively priced server, designed especially for fast growing 4K market. Slomo.tv’s CEO, Michael Gilman, reports that this latest addition to the company’s Dominator range represents the world’s most cost-effective and powerful multi-functional 4K server.

Designated Dominator AT/12G, the new server provides advanced slow motion and instant replay capabilities as well as direct recording for editing 'on site'. In the 4K mode it supports the 662 configuration (6REC+6SEARCH+2PLAY), however in 3G/HD replay mode it supports 10-channels recording, search on all channels and four channels replay (10REC+10SEARCH+4PLAY). Mode switching is achieved with one button push and does not require any re-configuration of the system.

Dominator AT/12G

"Since many manufacturers use 12G SDI interfaces for 4K (UHD) operation, the new server is equipped with 12 universal 12G / 3G / HD / SD video interfaces," explains Michael Gilman. "This allocates one (BNC) connector for all standards, which perfectly fits modern cameras and mixers and significantly reduces the number of connecting cables."

Building on the success of previous models, the new Dominator AT/12G offers enhanced replay capabilities with two operators working simultaneously on the same unit. With four independent graphics outputs each operator can work with separate monitors using the main GUI and Multiviewer. The GUI built-in Multiviewer has five basic configurations, displaying video windows of different or equal size, for input video, search channels, and video outputs.

Of value in compact OB environments, an optional MultiSkin function allows the user to display several different interfaces on one monitor: these include the main GUI interface, Multiviewer and Game Analyzer (telestrator).

The €80,000 base configuration includes the 4U server unit, 266 hours capacity of SSD storage (100mbit HD video), 10GbE and 12G SAS connectivity, redundant power supply, remote controller and DMR™ ProRes 422 support for 4K mode, Telestrator and transfer options.

TORRANCE, CA (March 2, 2018) – Slomo.tv, a leading international producer of cost-effective, high performance server-based video recording and replay systems, has announced the successful completion of a project that sees the installation of two Dominator AT/3G production servers at the Moscow broadcaster TV Center. The servers have been installed and commissioned in the center's main Outside Broadcast (OB) vehicle, where they replace two EVS LSM XT2 servers.

The server installation is a key element of a major upgrade of the OB truck, enabling it to process a diversity of new video and data formats, such as 3G as well as continuing to support legacy formats. The customer, TVC, specified a production workflow that handles DVCPro HD and AVC Intra video files, which are standard functions of Slomo.tv’s Dominator AT/3G server.

Another key requirement was a super compact footprint. During comparison tests with five other manufacturers, Dominator AT/3G proved to be superior when measured against many parameters, including cost efficiency. Already installed and commissioned, the two server systems support 32 cameras within the OB truck environment where space saving is a priority. A key feature of the Dominator AT/3G installation which helps save rack space is the unit's internal multi-viewers.

OB Vehicle

After the upgrade, the TV Center’s OB truck can record up to 24 channels of HD video using ProRes 422 / DVCPro HD codec or 16 channels with XAVC 100Mbit codec. In replay mode, the two servers can support four operator workplaces with six individual cameras each. The servers are connected by a 10Gb network to facilitate clip and Playlist exchange. Thanks to their built-in 8 DMR™ tool-less/tray-less racks for standard 3.5" SATA spin discs, Dominator AT/3G records incoming video in native formats on discs, which can be physically extracted and transported to NLE systems. Moreover, the 10GbE interface allows recording to an external NAS archive, which provides additional redundancy to the system.

Already commissioned, the upgraded OB truck is already in use, helping to cover the most important Moscow city events. “We are extremely happy with our choice of Dominator AT/3G replay servers, moreover we are also very happy with the overall SLOMO.TV service and support,” commented Mr. Alexei Brusnitsky, CTO at the Moscow Broadcast Center. “They conducted excellent training for all our operators, so switching to the new systems was completely painless.”
