Quite often, during multi-channel recording there is a need to record a number of audio channels exceeding the capacity available with embedded audio. There are also situations when a project calls for a much better sound quality than the quality of embedded audio.

For such situations and for greater integration with audio equipment we have developed an audio option "Sandy". It allows you to record up to 16 channels of AES/EBU audio and up to 128 audio channels via MADI interface (optical and coaxial).

The huge advantage of MADI is the ability to transmit up to 64 audio channels over a single optical or coaxial cable.

Thus for systems like Simple R 662 and Simple R 662 Plus the total recorded audio channels can reach 240. Such number of recording channels is a rarity even among professional audio recording systems.

Some technical details:

In contrast to all other multi-channel video recording servers the AES/EBU audio can be recorded in up to 24 bits at a sampling rate of 192 kHz. To work with Digital AES we use 8 balanced inputs that are connected via a breakout cable to the DB-25 connector.

MADI is connected via coaxial and optical inputs.

Sandy audio option is available at ordering for all Simple R Series servers.

The first in the world system for video judging in ice hockey - videoReferee®-3G was installed at KHL "Ac Bars" TATNEFT ARENA in Kazan.

The 3G SDI system with a full set of cameras working in 1920х1080 50p resolution was developed by slomo.tv – the leader in on-the-fly sports video analysis equipment.

In contrast to standard interlaced Full HD 1920x1080 50i/60i video, 3G works with progressive scan, which doubles the number of recorded details and also eliminates the "washed" video. Disputed moments are analyzed with a much better picture.

In terms of used technology and realized opportunities, videoReferee®-3G is unique. The system can work with ten (10) 3G or Full HD channels. It supports cameras with parameters 1920x1080 50p/60p or 100i/120i and standard Full HD cameras.

Despite twice the amount of processed information, the system provides recording of 10 channels in any combination and search of 4 channels simultaneously. The system produces video report in H264 format.

As video sources of such high parameters the system is using specially designed cameras vR-Cam-60p and GoalNetCam-60p.

These cameras support 1920х1080 50p/60p mode and can still work in formats SD, 1280х720 50/60p and 1920х1080 50i/60.

The wireless GoalNetCam-60p provides crystal-clear picture in 1920х1080 60p resolution directly from inside the goal.

slomo.tv, a leading designer and manufacturer of equipment for sports on-the-fly video reviewing, was selected to provide its most powerful model, the broadcast-quality Full HD videoReferee®-IIM2 with 11 vR-Cam cameras for the Volleyball Federation of Kazakhstan.

The videoReferee® system will be used in international and domestic volleyball matches to assure high quality of sports judging.

Delivery was made by slomo.tv European distributor, Broadcast Solutions GmbH.

Debut of the videoReferee® system in the Republic of Kazakhstan took place at the 4th Asian Cup Volleyball Championship/«The Narsultan Nazarbaev President's Cup». As always, the judges were satisfied with the quality of the system and its ease of use.

Camera vR-Cam

The IIHF world hockey championship first division was held at the Siemens Arena in Vilnius.

Slomo.tv together with the regional distributor Lithuanian company TVC, installed its specialized system for ice hockey video refereeing. The videoReferee® system included 11 channels SD/HD server, two wireless inside the goal cameras GoalNetCam, 4 standard and 1 panoramic cameras vR-Cam. The system also recorded television broadcasts channel. STRAMATEL, the scoreboard controller manufacturer provided communication protocol for integration of its HF13 controller with videoReferee®-IIM2, which enabled it to work with official time, score and game log.

The system was used extensively by referees not just for “Video Goal” adjudication as defined by IIHF technical regulations, but also in resolving questionable moments during the game.

In addition, the system provided video documentation of all matches in MPEG4 video format.

After each match, referees and team representatives received the official video report on all contentious issues. Each episode contained recordings of all cameras with burned data from match controller. The system received rave reviews from referees team headed by the legendary Bob Nadin.

SLOMO.TV acknowledges the assistance and cooperation it received in organizing this event. Our thanks to management and staff of Siemens Arena, TVC (Televizijos ir rysio sistemos, UAB), specialist in OB van & TV studio integration, STRAMATEL, European specialist in electronic scoreboards and Christian Hofstetter, IIHF Marketing Director.

After last year CABSAT debut Slomo.tv again attracted a lot of attention to its unique combination of small dimensions and the most powerful engines on the market. The easy to learn intuitive Interface with built-in mutiviewer combined with system amazing flexibility have the potential to make these cost effective professional multichannel recording and instant replay servers a common standard for broadcasters in the MENA region.

Opening Ceremony of the Sochi Olympics has become one of the largest and most colorful in the history of Olympic broadcasts. Total number of viewers who saw unforgettable show exceeded 3 billion!

Slomo.tv used its DMR™ (Direct Movie Record) technology to record 44 FullHD video channels on six Dominator AT servers in Apple ProRes® 422 HQ. This is believed to be a world record in simultaneously recorded channels for non-linear editing.

DMR™ provides simultaneous video recording to internal RAID array and recording of HD and SD proxy in original NLE format to transferable media or network drives.

The recording of opening and closing ceremonies rehearsals was done for the First Channel and was used for mastering and production of Blu-ray Gift Discs of both ceremonies.

Virtual Spectator acquired slomo.tv Dominator SM2 for producing instant replays using two 3X high speed cameras on Cricket Australia Games.

The broadcast server Dominator SM2 was selected because it is designed to support simultaneously 2 high speed cameras in instant replay mode.

It features a built-in multiviewer interface and provides smooth change of replay speed from 0 to 133%, as well as the ability to search and mark clips during playback of Playlist.

Happy new year 2014!

As last year the company presented its products on several stands.

On the main stand (8B11) we introduced new additions to the popular Simple R family of 1U compact replay servers: a 10 channel Simple R 442 (4 SD/HD Inputs, 2 Outputs and simultaneous search on all 4 channels) and a new sports officiating system videoReferee®-SR (8-channel system in Simple R format with full functionality of the high-end 11-channel system).

We also showed the newest version of the wireless Full HD camera GoalNetCam. It is much smaller and has a new sensor with Image Stabilizer. The vR-Cam camera also has been modified. It is now Plug-N-Play and camera parameters can be configured in the built-in control panel.

A new software option for analyzing and highlighting events– Game Analyzer (Telestrator for drawing on video and graphics overlay) attracted a lot of attention of the visitors.
This option is available on all our servers and uses WACOM Clintiq 13HD or any touch screen monitor.

Broadcast Solutions GmbH on its stand (8A94) presented an attractive Super Motion bundle – Simple R 331 with Hitachi 1500 camera. In turn Hitachi chose Simple R 331 system for showing Super Motion instant replay on its own booth.

Unique feature of slomo.tv Super Motion system is expanded range of fixed replay speeds (33%, 66%, 100%, and 133%) and the ability to smoothly change the speed in the range from -66 to 133%. It should be noted that slomo.tv supports other Super Motion video cameras such as Sony HDC 3300 and Grass Valley LDK 8300.

Once again slomo.tv demonstrated that its systems user friendly interface with built-in MultiViewer, ability to search on all recording channels simultaneously, superior clip management, DMR™ technology, available options and use of fast and reliable SSD storage, proved very attractive to broadcast professionals.
