videoReferee® vR 2110 – Next-Generation ST 2110-Based VAR Server

The Future of Video Refereeing Is Here

Sports broadcasts demand instant response, absolute precision, and high reliability.

The videoReferee® vR 2110 is our first VAR server originally designed to operate using the SMPTE ST 2110 standard, opening up new possibilities for organizing video assistant referee (VAR) systems and video refereeing.

The use of standard IP technologies and uncompressed data transmission significantly accelerates media content delivery and saves resources at every stage of video production.

Why ST 2110?

The SMPTE ST 2110 standard enables the transmission of video, audio, and metadata over separate IP streams without compression, with minimal latency and full synchronization.

Today, this is the global standard for professional broadcasting, and the high speed of optical lines (up to 100 Gbit/s) makes its use cost-effective even for complex multi-camera systems.

Key Capabilities of videoReferee® vR 2110

⚡ Minimal Latency

Uncompressed signal transmission via ST 2110 ensures a delay of just tens of milliseconds between an event on the field and the video appearing on the VAR server. This enables near-instantaneous playback and allows video referees to make decisions quickly.

🔗 One Cable – 32 Channels

Transmitting 32 channels of 3G video requires just one standard 100 Gbit optical cable. This consolidation simplifies the cabling system and minimizes potential points of failure.

🔁 Enhanced Redundancy

"Red" and "Blue" subnetworks guarantee uninterrupted operation even in the event of partial equipment failure – a critically important feature for live broadcasts and high-stakes matches.

🧩 Flexibility and Scalability

The modular architecture allows you to configure a solution tailored to your needs – functionality can be expanded through additional software options for connecting more workstations, Multiviewer, RRA, graphics, and outside broadcasting (OB) vans.

Starting with a minimum configuration, you can then increase the number of processed signals up to 32 through software updates.

🔌 Ease of Connectivity

Standard network equipment and cables, no proprietary or costly solutions required – convenient and cheap.

The server is compatible with existing SDI infrastructure via Blackmagic Design converters, ensuring a smooth transition to IP broadcasting.

🖥️ Ease of Management

The intuitive interface allows operators with varying levels of expertise to work with the system, reducing training and operational costs.

Cost Efficiency

Transitioning to ST 2110 reduces the cost per video channel when using standard IP equipment, making a professional VAR system accessible to clubs, leagues, and broadcasters with any budget.

Ideal Solution For:

  • VAR centers and OB vans
  • Sports arenas and stadiums
  • Broadcast companies transitioning to IP
  • Video monitoring and video assistant referee systems

Long-Term Investment Protection

The modular architecture and support for current ST 2110 versions ensure that the system will remain relevant for many years. You can increase capacity and functionality as your needs grow – without replacing equipment.

Comfortable and Fast Review of Controversial Moments

The videoReferee® vR 2110 system offers all the necessary features for accurate and efficient refereeing:

Event marking with reference to the active channel

Automatic tag creation when paired with a match controller

Quick event search by tags

Synchronous search across recorded footage

Intuitive and high-performance interface for quick review preparation

Display of 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 cameras simultaneously for analyzing game moments from different angles

Playback speed control and video fragment zoom for detailed review

Loop playback of specific moments

Creation of customizable camera presets for convenient review of specific playing area zones

Integration with Match Controllers

The videoReferee® vR 2110 is integrated with the proprietary Control-MC match controller and other popular match controllers: Westerstrand, Nautronic NTpult, Nautronic NAUCON-1000, Bodet, Omega Saturn, Megalux, NataInfo, Victory, VITA, Araneus–NGLight, ElTablo, Stramatel, Colosseo, CEDR, Favero Console-700.

Gadget Control

The Gadget Control option provides connectivity for referees' wireless tablets to the server via Wi-Fi. Now searching, reviewing, and analyzing contentious game moments is possible right on the playing field. The interface is operated via intuitive gesture controls.

Video Synchronization from Non-Synchronized Cameras

Since the videoReferee® vR 2110 may be used in various arenas, including those with cameras without external synchronization, SLOMO.TV has developed a technology that synchronizes video from non-synchronized cameras when reviewing controversial moments.

To achieve absolute synchronization, the videoReferee® video replay system can be equipped with specialized mini-2x-vR-Cam refereeing cameras that support CloudyGenlock® cloud synchronization technology.

Game Time Control

The videoReferee® vR 2110 supports two methods of presenting official game data to video referees:

  • Direct connection to the match controller and data output to the interface video windows,
  • Overlay of the game scoreboard video feed onto the video windows.

Upon event completion, all game data is saved and available for export.

Control-VR Referee Control Panel

A specialized referee control panel from SLOMO.TV, designed to make the referee’s work faster and more comfortable. 35 RGB-backlit buttons accompany the operator’s actions with indicators and prompts, while the advanced Jog/Shuttle wheel with 4 bearings and a Hall-effect sensor in its construction ensures high precision and durability.

Control-VR was designed with full consideration of all requirements for video refereeing.

From the panel, the referee can access the following functions:

  • Switching between cameras displayed on the monitor
  • Adjusting the number of cameras shown on the referee monitor – 1 / 2 / 3 or 4 cameras
  • Viewing zoomed image from the selected channel
  • Placing marks/tags
  • Viewing live footage or searching through recorded footage
  • Marking events for export
  • Playing specific moments
  • Loop replay of a specific moment
  • Quick presets for instant camera access
  • Assigning tags to events / searching by tags
