Arrow 2110: A New Era of IP Broadcasting. Accessible, Flexible, Powerful
Television production has long evolved along the path of increasing physical infrastructure complexity. First came composite cable, where video was transmitted over a single coaxial cable, while audio was carried separately over a second cable. This was followed by component cable – three cables for video and two for audio. Component cable was then succeeded by SDI – a single coaxial cable for transmitting both video and audio. SDI also grew more complex over time – first transitioning to 3G SDI, then to 6G, 12G... But the higher the speed, the shorter the permissible cable length and the more difficult scaling becomes. A major studio or sports arena means hundreds of connections, bulky racks, and rigid dependence on physical topology.
That was the case until the development of SMPTE 2110.
Why 2110?
The SMPTE 2110 suite of standards enables the transmission of uncompressed video, audio, and metadata over standard Ethernet networks.
One cable – one connector – one interface.
Instead of a bundle of coaxial cables for each camera, you get the ability to route signals via software, without physical patching, using standard network switches.
Previously, IP adoption was expensive and complex: it required compression (standards 2022-6/7) or specialized equipment. Today, however, with the development of telecom standards – 10G, 25G, 100G, 200G, 400G – the situation has changed. 100G Ethernet can carry 8 Ultra HD channels or 32 3G channels through a single port.
Arrow 2110 is our answer to this technological shift. We didn’t just add IP support; we rethought the device architecture to ensure you get the most out of the transition to SMPTE 2110.
Architecture Without Compromises
Our approach is built on high-performance solutions, delivering unique flexibility:
Channel Density
Using the SMPTE 2110 standard, Arrow 2110 allows you to input up to 32 3G channels (or 8 4K channels) through a single connector.
Redundancy
For critically important broadcasts, the system is designed to operate using two independent networks in parallel ("red" and "blue" subnetworks). If one network fails, the equipment automatically continues operating on the other.
Internal Routing
Designed to receive dozens of channels over IP, the system is also a full-featured software router. You can reassign streams, create multi-channel Multiviewers, and distribute signals without a single physical re-patch.
Multiviewers Without Limits
Previously, the number of display outputs was strictly limited by physical ports. In the IP world, that no longer matters: you can now build a Multiviewer from 32 3G channels, or create a Multiviewer in 4K and output it to a 77-Inch TV through an optical cable or a Blackmagic Design HDMI™ converter.
Working with 4K and 8K
IP unifies the interface – working with 4K no longer requires replacing hardware. Arrow 2110 handles 4K or 8K seamlessly. The interface remains the same. This approach meets current demands while equipping you for the future, ensuring 8K production readiness today.
Ultra HD without limits
Ready to embrace the format of the future
Arrow 2110: Server-Class Approach & Versatility
Arrow 2110 is a server in a 2U form factor supporting HD, 3G SDI, and 12G SDI. SMPTE 2110 is not just a trendy buzzword. It’s a way to eliminate cable clutter, reduce deployment costs for complex systems (from sports arenas to broadcast studios), and gain the kind of flexibility that was only a dream with SDI.
Arrow 2110 is the guide into the world of SMPTE 2110 production. We deliver a ready-made architecture that includes multi-channel recording with 4K/8K support, internal routing, and support for additional workstations.
The future of broadcasting starts here. Start with one cable.
